The future of Wireless Technology

The term Wireless is used for a device using electromagnetic waves for an electronic operation rather than hard wires. A wireless is generally used to transfer data on a long distance. Wireless technology is rapidly evolving theses days. Some examples where wireless systems are very common are mobile phones and pagers, navigation systems, wireless computer mouse, satellite television, portable radios, TV remote controls, wireless phones etc. Wireless can be divided into following categories: -

* Portable wireless – It includes the operation of battery-operated wireless devices or systems such as cell phones and PCS units
* fixed wireless – it includes the operation of wireless devices or systems connected to the Internet and modems
* Mobile wireless –It includes the use of wireless devices or systems in moving motor vehicles, which include the automotive cell cellular phone and computers.

Wireless systems are actually not very safe. We have some quick tips to protect your valuable data: -

1. Always use a firewall with your PC.
2. Avoid using public wireless systems for accessing your bank accounts.
3. Hide your valuable data through encryption.
4. Switch off your wireless system if you are not using it.
How a Wireless System Works A wireless microphone system converts the audio signal created by the microphone to a radio signal which is sent to the sound system by a transmitter. The radio signal is similar to those used by television and FM radio stations. At the other end the receiver converts the frequency into an audio signal.

Future of wireless systems: - The LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology is gaining momentum these days which says improving standards of mobile phone to cope up with future technological requirements by reducing cost and improving efficiency. Many officials like telephone companies, technology firms, mobile phone makers, industrialists are using wireless technology systems

Water Purifier

Water purifiers have now become a mandatory home appliance. With the pollution surrounding us, life supporting elements like air and water have been contaminated. The deadly maladies spreading through water have become a matter of concern. Each year around a million people fall sick due to contaminated water and many die. Drinking clean and pure water should be made a habit and Kent has been in this purification service for over a decade. Set up in Noida in 1995, Kent’s innovations in water purification have been renowned world over by claiming the ‘Best Domestic Purifier’ award by UNESCO in 2006-2007 & 2007-2008 and ‘Water Digest International’ and ‘The Golden Peacock’ Award for the best Eco-Innovation, both for 2007.

Kent has introduced the revolutionary Mineral RO technology which can even eliminate the dissolved impurities in the water while preserving the essential minerals in the water. It offers dual purification form bacteria and viruses. This purifier works well with water from all sources like from bore-wells, overhead storage tanks, municipal tanks etc. Even in the traditional UV (Ultra-Violet) purification system Kent has emerged as a winner with its Ultra UV technology. It has a multiple filtration system of Sediment and Nano filters which help in eradicating bacteria almost completely.

These innovative technologies have boasted the sales and the reputation of the company to a great extent. Offering quality products and good after sale services has made Kent a respectable brand. Their endorsements have also gained immense popularity starring the dream girl Hema Malini and her both daughters. Further Kent’s pioneering Smart UF technology uses new hollow fiber casing to totally purify the municipality water. It operates without electricity, so now even power cuts won’t be an issue in purify water. It has a storage capacity of about 8 liters to store the purified water and thus is a step ahead than any other available water purifier. Kent water purifiers remove the impurity, the seeming bad odor and make it safe for consumption. Kent water purifiers are low on maintenance and are a one time reasonable investment to a healthy and pure source of drinking water.

How To Choose Best Air Conditioner

There are two main types of air conditioners to choose from:

Split air conditioners: A split air conditioner is useful for temperature control throughout the year i.e. both through winter and the summer months. It can be installed and used all round the year. The benefit of a split AC is that it can be used to cool a room in the hot summers as well as to heat a room in the chilling winters. Split air conditioners are not simply a seasonal investment. The size of the air conditioning unit is small in comparison to the other traditional air conditioners.

Window air conditioners: Window air conditioner is efficient in cooling small spaces. It is useful in cooling the room temperatures. Unlike the split air conditioners, it cannot heat the rooms in winters. As the name suggests, it is installed in the window of the room. The main criterion before purchasing a window air conditioner is to match the size of your window to the size of the air conditioner. Key factors to consider before purchasing an air conditioner:

Size: The size of the room is an important factor to determine the size of the air conditioner you should purchase. The dimensions of the air conditioner should be those that suit and fit your room. In case of a window air conditioner the size has to match that of the window.
The distance of the room from the kitchen is again an important factor that decides the size of the unit. A lot of heat is emitted from the kitchen when you cook. The smaller the distance between the room and the kitchen, the larger should be the cooling capacity of the AC.

Cooling Capacity: The higher the BTU (British Thermal Units) count of the air conditioner the better will be the cooling capacity of the air conditioner. The cooling capacity is the ability to keep the room cool. A unit with high BTU can keep you cool even in extreme heat.

Noise: Generally indoor units that do not produce much noise are preferred. In case of outdoor unit care should be taken to ensure that it is well packed so that it does not create a racket with its loose vibrating covers.

Energy Efficiency Rating: The ratio of air conditioner’s cooling capacity to its power consumption is the unit’s (EER). A system with higher unit is better for both you and your environment. Though these models are expensive, they save money in the long run by consuming less energy.

All About Laptop Batteries

With the increased usage of laptop computers nowadays, the demand for laptop batteries have reached its peak. Laptop batteries are specific to the make and model of the laptop. There are lots of laptop battery manufactures like septechnologies who are capable of supplying batteries that are compatible with most of the laptops that are available in the market today. Though there are a lot of manufactures of laptop batteries, there are a few things that have to be taken into consideration while choosing a laptop battery.

ALL BATTERIES ARE NOT THE SAME
Most of the laptop users still believe that all the laptop batteries are the same. Though the laptop batteries work on the common principle that ‘electrochemical reaction created forces a stream of electrons that traverse from one position to another in the laptop batteries and the negative and positive terminals send and receive electrons’, there are also many differences between the laptop batteries that are available in the market today. To start with, the location and shape of different terminals of the battery may vary across different models. Moreover, there are three different types of laptop batteries that are available in the market today:

NICKEL CADMIUM BATTERIES
The Nickel Cadmium batteries were the ones used in laptops in earlier days. These batteries were preferred in earlier days as they delivered high output at low cost. However, these NiCd batteries have many drawbacks like overcharging, cell reversing, memory & lazy battery effects and dentritic shorting. Moreover, these NiCd laptop batteries are not environment friendly. Cadmium which is a very heavy toxic metal requires special care during disposal. With these difficulties taken into account, these batteries are not widely used today.

NICKEL METAL HYDRIDE BATTERIES
Nickel Metal hydride batteries are better replacements for NiCd batteries. These NiMH batteries are compatible with most of the older laptops. The elimination of the toxic cadmium in this type of battery makes it environmentally safe than the NiCd batteries. Also these batteries are easily available in the market for a cheaper price.

LITHIUM ION BATTERIES
The lithium ion rechargeable batteries are the type of batteries in which the lithium ion moves between the anode and the cathode. Lithium ion batteries are the most commonly used ones in consumer electronics. They are currently the most popular batteries that are used in most of the portable devices. These LiON batteries have excellent energy to weight ratio, no memory effect, and slow loss of charge when not in use. However, the unique drawback of the Li-ion battery is that its life span is dependent upon aging from time of manufacturing (shelf life) regardless of whether it was charged, and not just on the number of charge/discharge cycles. So an older battery will not last as long as a new battery due solely to its age, unlike other batteries. Though the LiON batteries have this disadvantage, the advantages overweigh them is hence it is most preferred laptop battery in use today.
